Minority Golf Magazine 2011

The sport of golf has challenged and charmed people for generations. By Herschel Caldwell   The game is believed to have originated in Scotland as early as the 15th century, and was imported to the U.S. in 1888.  For many years, the sport was the exclusive province of wealthy, Anglo-Saxon males, but in recent years, the passion for playing golf has sparked what some would call a spiritual revival among the “baby boom” generation.

Just Plain Good.

By Mick Elliott Steve Stricker’s game might not be spectacular, but the results are as he ascends to No. 2 in the world after winning the Northern Trust Open. Steve Stricker, a Wisconsin native who is every bit as comfortable sitting in a tree stand dressed in hunter’s camouflage as he does hitting golf shots, sighted a coyote last week while touring Riviera Country Club outside Los Angeles during the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open.

The facts about the Tiger Woods situation are now obvious:

By Herschel  Caldwell Tiger was involved in a one car accident in front of his home, suffered minor injuries and was cited for careless driving and fined by the Florida law authorities. Tiger withdrew from his own tournament (the Chevron Challenge), citing injuries from the accident as his reason. Speculation and rumor began to surface about the cause of the accident being Tiger’s reported sexual encounters with numerous women. Tiger issued a statement on his website indicating he had failed to live up to his own values and admitting to “unnamed transgressions.” No less than 12 women have come forth… Read More »
